Marine (RSTS)

Randy Smith Training Solutions (RSTS) provides US Coast Guard (USCG), IADC and IMO approved instructional services, consultation and offshore marine support to drilling contractors and floating production facility operators worldwide.  RSTS courses are tailored specifically to your company's particular vessel type, barge, jack-up, submersible, semi-submersible, drillship, SPAR, TLP and FOI.

US Coast Guard Approved Licensing for Offshore Installation Managers, Barge Supervisors and Ballast Control Operators

This five-day workshop prepares candidates for the USCG exam and, after successful completion, candidates present their certificates of training at a USCG Regional Exam Center for official licensing, or RSTS can complete the licensing process for them.

US Coast Guard Approved Stability Courses

These five-day courses are offered for a wide range of offshore vessels, including MODU, TLP, SPAR and FOI units. Upon successful completion, candidates are presented their certification, which may be applied towards a USCG or Foreign Flag State License.

Customised Stability Training

• Liftboat Stability - This three-day course was written in conjunction with a major liftboat operator to satisfy the need for this type of training, which was non-existent prior to this course. The course includes training in basic stability and load management.

• Submersible Stability - This three-day course is designed to fill the void that existed in the oil industry for applying stability principles specifically to submersible drilling units.  The course covers basic stability, load management, VCG, TCG and LCG
• Inland Barge Stability - This three-day course is designed to fill the void that existed in the oil industry for applying stability principles specifically to inland barges and posted barges.  The course covers basic stability, load management, VCG, TCG and LCG
• Mat Supported Jack-Up Stability - This three-day course is designed for applying stability principles specifically to mat supported jack-ups. The course includes training in basic stability, load management, VCG, TCG and LCG
• Stability Refresher - These three-day courses are designed for all the various vessel types and cover basic stability, load management, VCG, TCG and LCG.

Flag State Endorsements or Conversions

The above workshops are accepted by, and assistance is provided to endorse or convert USCG licensing to, other reciprocating Flag States such as Vanuatu, Marshall Islands, Liberia and Panama.
